A verified phone is not an identity check
It shows that the account completed phone verification for that number. It does not verify a person’s identity, address, qualifications, work history or criminal record.
What a verified mobile number means
A mobile-verified label means the account completed the phone verification step for that number. It helps show that the person could access the number at that time.
- It does not verify an identity document, home address, qualifications, work history, right to work, or criminal record.
- It does not guarantee that the number will remain active or that the account holder will be suitable for a particular job.
References and other checks
A reference is useful only when you know who provided it and what they can speak to. Ask the candidate before contacting a referee, agree what you will ask, and give the referee a fair chance to respond.
- Treat information in a profile as information supplied by its owner unless the app clearly labels a particular check and its scope.
- Do not treat a reference as a background check or as proof of every claim in a profile.
- Professional screening is optional and may not be available for every candidate. If the app offers a check, read exactly what is checked, obtain the candidate's consent, and confirm the displayed price before ordering.
A fair shortlist process
Use an interview to discuss the actual role, duties, schedule, pay and expectations. Ask consistent job-related questions, verify important details directly, and allow the candidate to ask questions too.
- Keep copies of identity documents and sensitive information only when necessary, with a clear lawful purpose and appropriate protection.
- Make the hiring decision yourself. A profile label, reference or optional check cannot decide whether a person is right for your household.
